ROCKDALE MAN KILLED IN WEEKEND ACCIDENT

(ROCKDALE)  A 76-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning when he failed to stop at a flashing red light in Rockdale and collided with an 18-wheeler.

According to Rockdale Police Officer Kirby Shoemake, Calvin Peschke of Rockdale was driving a 1996 Chevrolet pickup south on Wilcox Street at about 12:18 a.m.

Peschke drove through a flashing red light and collided with an H-E-B truck that was eastbound on
Cameron Avenue.

Peschke was transported to Richards
Memorial Hospital in Rockdale, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck, 47-year-old Jose Juarez of Austin, was not injured.

Peschke is the first traffic fatality of 2005 on Milam County roads.
