CAMERON WELCOMES ROBERT JOHNSON

(CAMERON)  Cameron native and Yoe High Graduate Robert M. Johnson was welcomed home Thursday with a reception in the Yoe High Band Hall.  The reception preceded the first public showing of "Paperclips", a documentary produced by his firm the Johnson Group.  Paperclips is an award-winning documentary about a Whitwell, Tennessee middle school and their inspiring project launched out of their principal's desire to help her students open their eyes to the diversity to the world beyond their insulated community.  Whitwell's population is almost exclusively white and Christian.  What happened would change the students, their teachers, their families and the entire town forever.  And eventually, through the work of Johnson's production, open hearts and minds around the world.

Robert Johnson joined KMIL's Rose & Joe on the Breakfast Club Friday.

Johnson's reception was followed by the first public viewing of "Paperclips", at the Yoe High School Performing Arts Center.  Around 400 attended.  More than 1700 area Jr. High and High School students from 11 area school districts will also see the film this week in Cameron.  The final public viewing in Cameron will be held Friday night at 7:30.

Paperclips is currently being shown across the country in 40 major markets.

(L-R)  Councilwoman Rose Mondrik, Robert Johnson and Mayor Bill Meachum. Cameron native and Houston Astros owner Drayton McLane also attended Johnson's reception.
