DEWBERRY FESTIVAL DRAWS CROWD

(CAMERON)  The 9th annual Cameron Dewberry Festival started slow with showers and cool temperatures early Saturday, but the rains fizzled mid morning, and the crowds came.   The 4th annual youth fishing tournament drew 118 participants from Cameron, Rockdale, Milano, Gause, Buckholts, Heidenheimer, Belton, Temple, Rosebud, Waco, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Southlake and other communities.  Organizer Game Warden Mike Mitchell said 83% of the participants had not participated in the event before.  The pond had been stocked with 506 channel catfish on Friday.  Over 176 catfish were caught during the event.  Top 3 winners in 3 age divisions were awarded trophies following the tournament.   More than 26 volunteers helped in running the tournament.
