FIREMEN HOST LADIES NIGHT, AWARDS BANQUET

(CAMERON)   The Cameron Volunteer Fire Department hosted their annual Ladies Night and Awards Banquet Friday at the Williams Civic Center in Cameron.  The late Thomas Harwell, long-time Cameron Fire Chief, was honored during the banquet.  Harwell died July 7th of this year, only 3 weeks after being elected President of the State Fireman's and Fire Marshall's Association.  Harwell was a 30-year member of the Association.  He had served on the Association’s executive board for 5 years, and served as Fire Chief for 19 years.  His son David and grandson A.J. Harwell accepted a Memorial Plaque honoring Harwell and his years of service. 

Fireman Biff Harris (right) was recognized with a 15-year service award.  Harris received an engraved watch for his service.  David Harwell and Brian Hundle were also recognized with 15-year service awards. Cliff Cryer (Left) accepts the award on behalf of C&W Auto for Employer of the Year.  Also receiving the award were Cameron Tire Store, Cam-Tex Hardware and Baker Tire Co.
Jim Lafferty (left) was named Fireman of the Year during the annual event. Honorary members of the Cameron Volunteer Fire Department are (L-R) John David Thompson, Ed Laywell and Emil Horelica.
