PRESS CONFERENCE HELD TO ANNOUNCE RMH MEDICAL FACILITY

(CAMERON)  Richards Memorial Hospital board members gave CEO Jeff Madison the go ahead to work out the details of a new medical facility in Cameron that would include a sleep study center, a new diagnostic imaging center and a new clinic and urgent care facility that would be located in the Cameron Business Park, all funded without any capital outlay from the hospital district.  City officials, the Cameron Industrial Foundation, and hospital officials held a press conference Tuesday afternoon at the future site.

The proposed new facility will be a joint venture between Richards Memorial and several others.  Dr. Mike Locklear during Tuesday’s Press Conference. (Audio).  Dr. Locklear's practice in Cameron  would expand to include a “medical mall” with a 24 hour non-emergency clinic, expanded medical office services, medical lab and other diagnostic services.  Locklear told board members that the new facility would improve medical services to Cameron residents as well as those in Milam County and surrounding areas.

Locklear also told board members that Cameron City officials and the Cameron Economic Development Board were supportive of the project.  (Audio)

Global Sleep Studies Technologies would provide a sleep study center and a group of private investors would provide an advanced diagnostic imaging center that include a state of the art 64 slice CT machine, MRI, and other specialties including cardiac ultrasound.

Madison was clear about the funding for the project. (Audio)
