RIG HITS UNDERPASS, SHUTS DOWN TRAFFIC/TRAINS

(CAMERON)  Train traffic was halted thru Cameron overnight and motorists were detoured thru downtown after a tractor trailer rig hauling a container full of equipment struck the railroad underpass.  The accident happened around 7:45 p.m. Thursday.

The collision cracked the first iron rail support of the bridge.  TxDOT crews and Burlington Northern Sante Fe officials were on the scene thru the night making repairs.

The driver of the rig, Ronnie Earl Perkins of Hockley, Texas, was not hurt.  Cameron Police Officer Wes Male investigated the accident.
